What engagement ring can you get for a $10,000 budget is? It depends! Believe it or not, rings with a 5-figure price tag are quite diverse. Generally speaking, here are the specs you can expect to find in today's market with a $10k budget.
Finding your sweet spot of carat and color
How big of a ring can you get for $10,000?
As you probably know, the price of an engagement ring is generally dictated by the 4 C's (carat, color, clarity, and cut). In the vintage world, which is what we deal in here at Victor Barboné, the price is more accurately dictated by carat, color, clarity, and rarity.
The first step is to determine which of these factors is most important to you and your partner. The main two that most people focus on are carat weight and color.
Some gals desire a white diamond, which would fall in the D-E-F color range. If that's the case, you will likely need to search for a ring with a center stone under 1-carat in order to stay within your $10,000 budget.
On the flip side, if you're open to a stone in the K-L-M color range, which is our fave here at AB and where you get the most bang for your buck, you can get a center stone somewhere in the 1.5-carat range!
Where things get tricky is with authentic antique or signed pieces (signed = Tiffany's, Cartier, etc). Due to the rarity of these rings the price can increase significantly. You can still find plenty of authentic vintage engagement rings for under $10,000, but you may need to be flexible on the other specs of the diamond.
