The Dakota Ring is a yellow gold double halo engagement ring from the Edwardian Era, circa 1910! This beauty centers a GIA Certified 0.92-carat old mine cut diamond of G color, SI1 clarity. The diamond is bezel set in a platinum-topped 14kt yellow gold setting. The center diamond is surrounded by a double halo of 38 old cut diamonds that combine for approximately 1.20 carats. The ring is size 6.75 and can be resized!
Everything. Just everything. So bold, so chic. Can you believe all those diamonds were cut by hand? This yellow gold double halo engagement ring is like a fine work of art surrounded by an equally gorgeous frame! A dreamy cushion in a two-tone setting with a double halo and did we mention that it's low-profile? We really love this piece as an engagement ring (maybe with just a thin gold wedding band), but it would work equally well as a bold cocktail ring! Its tiered design reminds us of a terraced garden, giving it a delicious sense of depth—matched by its stunning surface area, of course—while still sitting close to the hand!
The dimensions of the face of the ring are 19.3 x 17.2 mm.
From approximately 1900–1910, the Edwardian Era was characterized by its opulence and optimism. In the years before World War I, spirits were high and fashion flourished. This yellow gold double halo engagement ring speaks to the grandeur of the time, but it also anticipates the later style of the Art Deco influence, which favored bold geometric designs.
Art Deco fashion is particularly famous for its cocktail rings. In the years of American Prohibition during the 1920s, underground speakeasies were the place to be. Despite their secrecy, they were also the place to be seen. Large, elaborate cocktail rings were the perfect way to complement a hand holding a glass of something on the rocks!
Both of these eras are present in the Dakota ring—the stateliness of Edwardian fashion and the bold extravagance of Art Deco. Two distinct vintage styles at work in a single, stunning design!
